Solar-first runs the house. Grid-first saves the pack.
گھر کے لیے سولر فرسٹ رکھیں۔ گرڈ فرسٹ بیٹری کو بچاتا ہے اور دن میں سولر کو کھڑا رکھتا ہے۔
Key takeaways
- Labels vary: SOL, SBU, SUB, UTI, or a work-mode name. Confirm the word on your carton.
- A house that “does nothing until shed” is often sitting on grid-first.
- Charging the pack from the grid at night, then running an AC, is a bill.
- The geyser and the extra AC stay on the GRID breaker either way.
House
Solar-first. One 5.12 kWh pack covers fans, lights, a fridge, and the router for an evening. A 1.5-ton at night needs another pack. Read night AC.
Shop that closes in shed
Grid-first can be honest. Say it on the quote so the owner expects a full battery and a normal daytime bill.
Pair this screen with the physical DB. Output priority cannot move a geyser off the LOAD breaker. That split is drawn in the backup DB guide. Overload that appears only in shed is the symptom. See overload in shed.
Solar-first runs the day and grid-first saves the pack
Output priority is the setting that decides whether the house uses the sun first or the street first. Solar-first modes, often shown as SOL or SBU on the hybrids we quote, match a self-use plant. Grid-first, often UTI, keeps the pack full and spends the bill. SUB and any other label are defined only with the words the carton uses. This page refuses to invent a fourth mode to sound complete. The owner menu is the parent doctrine. Each brand page should use its own label and send the decision here. The carton wins when a word on the glass does not match a word on this site.
Choose solar-first when the fridge and the fans must stay up in shed and you want the day's sun to do the work. Choose grid-first only when you mean to keep the pack full for an outage and you accept a higher daytime bill. Write the choice on the quote. A house that "does nothing until shed" is often sitting on grid-first while the owner believes the roof is running the day. That belief is the expensive one. The screen is the record, not the shop's adjective.
One evening pack is not a night air-conditioner
On a house setting, one 5.12 kWh pack covers fans, lights, a fridge, and the router for an evening. Four fans are about 300 W, and they sit inside that evening with the lights. A 1.5-ton at night needs another pack. Read night AC hours before you promise the bedroom will stay cold after sunset. Solar-first does not create kilowatt-hours the pack does not have. It only decides which source is used first while energy remains. When the pack is empty, the night load stops or the street carries it, depending on what you actually built.
A shop that closes in shed can honestly use grid-first. Say it on the quote so the owner expects a full battery and a normal daytime bill. Do not use that shop sentence on a family house and then act surprised that the daytime bill barely moved. Charging the pack from the grid at night, then running an air-conditioner, is a bill. Night-time grid charging together with the wrong priority can build a plant that exports nothing, saves little, and imports all night. The quote has to name which of those behaviours was sold.
A house that waits for shed is often on grid-first
Look at the screen in the middle of a sunny afternoon. If the house is still buying the street while the roof is bright, you are probably on a grid-first word such as UTI. UTI is not always a mistake. It is a mistake when the owner thinks the house is running on solar all day. SBU or SOL, when those are the words your carton uses for solar-first, is the setting that spends the sun on the house and keeps the street as the second source. Confirm the word on the glass. Do not rename it to match a blog.
Feed-in on or off is a separate line. Solar-first does not export spare units by itself. Spare sun should fill the pack and then clip until the bidirectional meter exists and feed-in is enabled on purpose. Leave feed-in off until that meter is in. New files after 9 February 2026 are net-billing under SRO 251(I)/2026, so export was never the reason to buy the plant. The labelled working rate in the calculator stays on the numbers page. This screen page does not invent a rupee for a unit you have not metered.
The geyser does not move because solar-first changed
The geyser and the extra air-conditioner stay on the GRID breaker either way. Output priority cannot move a geyser off the LOAD breaker. That physical split is drawn in the backup DB guide. This page does not redraw it, does not publish a breaker table, and does not tell you which colour lands on which terminal. If the geyser is on LOAD, the mode you picked will try to run it from the pack in shed, and the pack will lose. Overload that appears only in shed is the symptom. See overload in shed before you blame the plates.
No output mode turns an on-grid inverter into a hybrid. If the box has no battery menu, solar-first is not hiding in a program number we refused to print. The carton either has a battery port and a priority word, or it shuts down when the street dies. Anti-islanding on an on-grid string is the design. Do not bridge GRID and LOAD to fake a priority the hardware does not have. That bridge can put voltage back on a dead street. This page will not describe the bridge.
Write the word on the quote before the installer leaves
The handover sheet should show the priority word, whether night grid charging was allowed, and whether feed-in is off. A hand line beats an app that later goes blank. If the installer leaves the screen on UTI and the quote said solar-first, the folder is not done. If the quote said grid-first for a shop that closes at dusk, UTI can be the honest word, and the daytime bill should not shock anyone. The two stories are both legal only when the paper matches the glass.
APL or UPS is not this setting. Grid range lives on the owner menu as a different job. Do not "fix" a rough feeder by changing output priority, and do not "fix" a priority mistake by narrowing the grid window. A long thin cable is a thicker cable, not a boosted voltage, and that sentence also lives on the menu page rather than here. Stay on the source decision. The carton revision names the letters. We do not add a mode the revision does not print.
| What you wanted | Word to confirm on the carton | What the bill will do |
|---|---|---|
| Sun runs the house, street is the spare | Solar-first, often SOL or SBU | Daytime import falls if the roof is actually big enough |
| Pack stays full for an outage | Grid-first, often UTI | Daytime bill stays ordinary on purpose |
| Another label on the glass | Only the carton's own sentence for SUB or that word | Do not invent a fourth behaviour |
| Night AC after a grid charge | Whatever you wrote, plus a second pack | Call the grid charge a bill, not free backup |
Fans at night on one pack are a different quote from a 1.5-ton after sunset. Say which one you bought. Keep the geyser on GRID. Keep feed-in off until the meter exists. If shed overload trips the fridge and the air-conditioner together, the LOAD list is wrong, and the priority word will not save it. Smoke or a burning smell is not a mode change: isolate if it is safe, leave, and call local emergency services.
What this priority page decides
Read the night-AC page for hours, the backup-board guide for the physical split, and the overload page for the shed trip. Read the owner menu for the other four jobs. Do not ask this URL for a program number, a DIP drawing, or a cable chart. The glass in your house names SOL, SBU, SUB, UTI, or a work-mode phrase. If none of those strings match, stop and photograph the screen. We will talk about the job. We will not invent the missing mode.
The decision that belongs only on this output-priority page is that a Multan house which must ride through shed is sold solar-first, and grid-first is honest only when the quote says the pack is being saved and the daytime bill will look ordinary. A battery-type page and a fault index do not make that commercial choice.

Questions
Will solar-first export my spare units?
Only after you enable feed-in and the DISCO meter can see them. Until then, spare sun should fill the pack and then clip.
Is UTI always wrong?
UTI is grid-first. It is wrong when the owner thinks the house is running on solar all day.
How do I tell solar-first from grid-first on an afternoon visit?
Stand there while the roof is bright and see whether the house is buying the street. If it is, and nobody wrote grid-first on the quote, the screen is probably on a grid-first word such as UTI. Solar-first, often SOL or SBU on the hybrids we quote, spends the sun on the house first. Confirm the letters on your carton rather than on a blog. SUB means only what that carton says. This page will not invent a fourth mode to explain a strange word. Photograph the LCD and compare it with the quote.
Will grid-first keep my fans alive at night without a second pack?
Grid-first keeps the pack full while the street is up. It does not enlarge the pack. One 5.12 kWh pack still covers fans, lights, a fridge, and the router for an evening, and four fans at about 300 W sit inside that evening. A 1.5-ton after sunset needs another pack, whichever priority word you saved. If the street is already dead, a full pack is only as big as the pack. Read the night-AC page before you buy comfort with a menu word.
Can I charge from the grid after midnight and call it solar savings?
No. Night grid charging is a bill. Together with the wrong priority it can build a plant that exports nothing, saves little, and imports all night. If you truly want the pack full before a morning outage, write that choice on the quote and expect the import. Do not describe it as free solar. Solar-first with no night grid charge is the self-use habit. Feed-in is a separate line and stays off until the bidirectional meter exists.
The geyser is on the backup breaker. Will solar-first protect the fridge?
Not if the geyser is on LOAD. Output priority cannot move a geyser onto the GRID breaker. In shed the pack will try to heat water, the inverter will overload, and the fridge can die with the geyser. The physical split is the backup-board guide, not this menu page. This page does not publish a breaker table or a colour recipe. Put the geyser back on GRID, keep fans and the fridge on LOAD if that is what the quote sold, and rerun the shed test.
Our box is on-grid only. Which priority word turns it into a hybrid?
None. No output mode turns an on-grid inverter into a hybrid. If there is no battery menu, there is no SOL or UTI choice that creates a pack. The box is supposed to go dark in shed. That is anti-islanding, not a hidden setting. Do not bridge GRID and LOAD to fake backup. This page will not describe that bridge, because a dead street can be made live. If you need night fans, the quote has to become a hybrid with those loads on LOAD, written before the outage.
The installer left UTI on the screen and SBU on the quote. Which one did I buy?
You bought the quote, and the screen is wrong until it matches. UTI is grid-first. If the quote said the house runs on solar through the day, the glass should show the carton's solar-first word before you pay the last amount. Write the final word by hand on the handover sheet. An app screenshot that later disappears is not enough. If the quote actually sold a full pack and an ordinary daytime bill, UTI can stay, and the paper must say that in words a neighbour could understand.
