Check the silk-screen and the LEDs before you blame the plates.

Photograph the LCD / LEDs, the battery SOC lights, and the isolator positions before you change anything. That photo is what the dealer needs. Firmware and board swaps are their job; your job is not to hold a live MC4.

Emergency (stop now)

Burning smell, smoke, hissing pack, hot MC4 you cannot touch, crackling from the isolator, water in the inverter. Order: PV isolator OFF, then battery switch / DC breaker OFF, then GRID MCB OFF. Do not “see if it settles.” Mixed MC4 and undersized cable are the usual criminals. Call the stocking dealer with serials.

Everything died when WAPDA died

  1. Is this an on-grid box (Huawei SUN2000, Growatt MIN, Fronius Primo)? Expected. Anti-islanding. On-grid manual.
  2. Hybrid: are fridge and fans on the LOAD / EPS port, or did someone land them on GRID “because it was closer”?
  3. LOAD MCB on? Battery front switch on? Pack LEDs alive? Wake button (~3 s Dyness)?
  4. SOC empty? Then the bank did its job and ran out. Size or geyser-on-LOAD problem, not a defect.
  5. CAN unplugged / battery type USE on a Pylontech? Hybrid may refuse to discharge. Ports, LFP.

Inverter beeps / overload / “overload” icon

Something on LOAD is too fat: geyser, second AC, pump start, washing machine + iron + microwave together. Move the fat loads to GRID. A 6 kW box is not a 10 kW house. Repeated overload trips cook relays — stop using it as a dare.

Battery stuck at 0% or 100%

BMS offline (CAN unplugged, wrong PYL/LIB setting) or first-cycle never hit 100%. Wake the pack. Confirm 51–54 V at the inverter. Do not leave USE mode on a Pylontech / Dyness. A true 100% that never comes down while the house is drawing is a display/CAN fiction — measure current if you can, or call.

One pack in a stack at a different SOC: check addresses / DIPs and that both breakers are on. Replace as a conversation with the dealer, not a jumper cable.

PV watts embarrassing at noon

Measure Voc per string vs the commissioning sheet. If Voc is gone, the string is open. If Voc is there and watts are not, the MPPT or isolator is the suspect.

App shows nothing, house has power

Dongle / Wi-Fi. Not an emergency. 2.4 GHz, logger SN, owner account. Do not factory-reset the hybrid to fix the app. Apps.

Grid export zero after a “working” install

Bidirectional meter not in, feed-in disabled on the LCD, DISCO file not done, or CT on the wrong way. Exporting into an old meter is not a flex. Net-billing.

Error-code families (names vary)

FamilyUsual meaningFirst check
Bus overvoltage / PV overvoltageString too long or a cold morning Voc over the maxVoc vs datasheet. Shorten string. Do not wait for June.
Battery comms fail / BMS lostCAN cable, pinout, address, pack off, wrong PYL/LIBReseat CAN. Wake pack. Protocol on LCD.
OverloadLOAD too fatShed the geyser/AC. Move to GRID.
OvertempSun on an IP20, clogged vents, 50 °C stairwellShade, clean, relocate. Do not keep resetting.
Earth / leakage / GFCIDamp, nicked DC jacket, bad earthIsolator off. Visual. Earth ohms. Dealer.
Fan / relayHardwareSerial + photo. Stocking dealer. Not a screwdriver.

Screenshot the code, serial, SOC, PV watts, and a wide shot of the ports before you call. Firmware only from them.
