AC leaking water is often the drain an owner can see, and never a reason to open the coil.

Key takeaways
- Indoor water is usually the drain. Outdoor water on a humid afternoon can be condensate.
- Water from a joint on the copper is a technician's visit. This page does not describe that joint.
- No chemical coil wash and no instruction to drill a new hole.
- The solar array is not a platform for the person who comes to see the leak.
The pipe you can see
AC leaking water from the indoor unit is usually the drain, and the owner can see the drain. A slug of slime in the short pipe, a pipe that runs uphill, or a pipe that was pushed into a closed bottle will put water on the wall. Clearing a removable drain spout, with the unit off, is an owner act. That spout is a short plastic piece. It is not the coil, and it is not a licence to open the cabinet.
What is not an owner act
Opening the coil, bending a fin flat with a knife, or pouring solvent through the machine is not an owner act. Those moves damage a part the refrigerant circuit depends on, and this site does not teach them. If the spout is not removable, stop. Forcing a wire up a closed drain is how the pipe leaves the wall.
Unit off, then look
Switch the air conditioner off before your hands go near the spout. Water plus a live machine is the hazard on the washing-machine page as well. The same rule applies here: feet out of the puddle, machine off, then the simple piece.
Outdoor water is a different sentence
Water from the outdoor unit on a humid Multan afternoon can be condensate. That drip is the machine doing what a cold coil does in wet air. Water from a joint on the copper is a technician's visit, and this page does not describe that joint, the flare, or the insulation over it. We do not tell anyone to drill the wall for a new drain.
If the ceiling below is wet, the stop is to switch the unit off and call someone who will open the fabric of the house. Solar glass is not a platform for that visit. A ladder belongs on a wall that is not the array. The caution page says the same thing for every outdoor job.
| Where the water is | Likely meaning | Owner act |
|---|---|---|
| Indoor wall, pipe in a bottle | Drain cannot leave | Free the pipe, unit off |
| Indoor wall, uphill pipe | Water comes back | A qualified person reroutes it |
| Removable spout full of slime | Blocked tail | Clear the spout, unit off |
| Outdoor drip on a humid day | Condensate | Watch. Do not open the shell |
| Wet joint on the copper | Not a drain story | Stop. Do not describe the joint |
| Wet ceiling below | The building is involved | Unit off, call for the fabric |
Do not turn a leak into a coil job
No solvent and no new hole
We do not publish a chemical coil wash. We do not publish a drill size. A leak that returns after the spout is clean is the end of this page. The next person brings their own method and their own insurance. Zarkaar's solar desk can still say whether the quote put this unit on LOAD. It does not send a piping sketch.
The plant did not invent the drip
Owners sometimes blame the hybrid because the drip started in the same month as the solar install. The calendar is not a cause. Ask whether the drain was pushed aside to hang a cable. If a solar lead is resting on the drain, the lead moves, the drain stays, and nobody opens the AC to celebrate. Roof cable rules stay on /wiring.
After the wall is dry
Put the filter back as the owner manual says, dry, not wet. If the smell that came with the water is a burning smell rather than a wet-dust smell, leave this page and open the smell page. Wet dust and hot insulation are not the same event. One is a drain. The other is a stop.
The bottle under an AC leaking water
People catch the indoor drip in a bottle, a jug, or a soft tube pushed onto the spout. The bottle fills, the tube sags into a low loop, or the extra pipe runs uphill toward a drain that looked convenient. Water then comes back onto the wall, or through to the neighbour below. Empty a bottle you can see. With the unit switched off, take off a soft tube that comes away in the hand, without tools and without entering the cabinet. If the spout itself is not a removable piece, stop. Forcing a wire up a closed drain is how the pipe leaves the wall, and this page still refuses that move.
A humid week still does not open the coil
The first humid days after a long dry spell can wet the indoor plastic even when the short drain looked clear last month. That can be a pipe that cannot keep up, or a pipe that was fine until someone extended it. It is still not a reason to open the coil, flatten a fin, or pour anything through the machine. Water on the slab under the outdoor shell is a different sentence and stays in the outdoor section of this page. Do not mix the two puddles and call both a gas leak.
When the wall is dry, photograph the pipe route you can see, including any bottle or uphill run, beside the sticker. Water on the plaster does not move an air conditioner from GRID to LOAD. If you also smell burning, leave the drain alone and use the smell page. The desk number is 0300 0465810, and the useful picture is the pipe an owner can see. A coil someone opened is not a ticket this URL will finish.

Questions
Why is the AC leaking water inside?
Usually the drain. Slime in the short pipe, a pipe that runs uphill, or a pipe sitting in a closed bottle will wet the wall. Look at the pipe you can see, with the unit off.
May I clear the drain spout?
Yes, if it is the removable spout and the unit is off. That is the owner act. Bending a fin flat or pouring solvent through the machine is not.
Water drips from the outdoor unit. Is that a fault?
On a humid afternoon it can be condensate. Water from a joint on the copper is different, and this page does not describe that joint. Call someone who will own the repair.
The ceiling below is wet. What do I do?
Switch the unit off and call someone who will open the fabric of the house. Do not keep cooling while plaster softens, and do not drill a new drain from a video.
Will a chemical wash fix the water?
We do not publish a chemical coil wash. Chemistry in a live machine is not an owner act.
Is this a solar fault?
Not by itself. A hybrid does not push water back up a drain. If someone is about to stand on the modules to reach the outdoor unit, stop that visit.
Can I tape the indoor unit so the water misses the wall?
No. Tape hides the drip and keeps the machine running into a wet wall. Find the drain path or switch it off.
Does the owner manual cover the filter as well?
Yes. A blocked filter and a blocked drain are different. Wash the filter on the manual page. Keep the coil closed on this one.
